With the bike on the boat
The 4,450 km EuroVelo 6 cycle route network connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Black Sea. It starts in Nantes, France, and ends in Constanta, Romania, crossing Europe and skirting a very long stretch of the Danube, involving a total of 10 countries, 11 UNESCO World Heritage sites and 6 European rivers. It accompanies the Danube from its source in the Black Forest to the Danube Delta.
Many foreign tourists choose to explore Europe on the EuroVelo 6 cycle route. There are few that do all 4450 km, but there are many who choose a section and cycle it.
From Esztergom it is also possible to cycle one of the sections of EuroVelo 6 as part of a one-day cycling tour.
In the Danube Bend, the best-built section of EuroVelo6 is located between Szob and Budapet on the left bank of the Danube. Thanks to the cruise ships sailing on the Danube Bend, during the tourist season, this extremely pleasant cycle route became accessible by boat from the localities on the right bank of the Danube.
From Esztergom Port it is worth going to Szob or Zebegény by boat with a departure at 10:00 am, then return to Esztergom by boat from Zebegény at 5:05 pm, or from Szob at 5:20 pm.
On the Szob – Zebegény – Nagymaros – Verőce -Vác route, you can comfortably cycle 30 km. In the ports of the settlements along the Danube you can always find snacks and a suitable place for a smaller rest. In the center of towns, there may be nice little restaurants, ice cream parlors, cafes waiting to be discovered.
The cruise schedule as well as other Mahart program offerings can be viewed on the Mahart Passnave website:
