QR-code crossroads on Esztergom Castle Hill – the best program tips for Easter – JOMBIK MARGIT, 3/21/2021 In 2021, it was also possible to walk the QR-code crossroads in Esztergom. In previous years, the same QR codes were displayed in the vicinity of the Szentgyörgymező Church. This year, QR-coded stickers, including a quality photo of the holy images, were placed around the cave of Lourdes on the north side of the Basilica by careful hands at the beginning of Lent. When scanning the displayed QR codes, the website of lampagyujtogato.hu pops up, where you can listen to the “Crossroads of Everyday Life” interpreted by actor Tamás Széles on mp3 audio materials. The stickers will most likely stay out after Easter. To walk through the QR code crossroads you need: a smartphone with internet access, a free downloadable QR code reader app and a good half an hour of free time. The sticker of the first station is located on a pylon near the equestrian statue of King St. Stephen. In times of pandemic, this is one of our best holiday program offerings. Museum Night in Esztergom – June 26, 2021
Esztergom is the Hungarian city with the most museums per square kilometer. It goes without saying that Museum Night is a very popular event in the city. In 2021, Museum Night will be organized on June 26 with the participation of all Esztergom museums. The connection between the different sites of this event will be provided by the little trackless train (Esztergomi Városnéző Kisvonat). With the bike on the boat The 4,450 km EuroVelo 6 cycle route network connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Black Sea. It starts in Nantes, France, and ends in Constanta, Romania, crossing Europe and skirting a very long stretch of the Danube, involving a total of 10 countries, 11 UNESCO World Heritage sites and 6 European rivers. It accompanies the Danube from its source in the Black Forest to the Danube Delta. Many foreign tourists choose to explore Europe on the EuroVelo 6 cycle route. There are few that do all 4450 km, but there are many who choose a section and cycle it. From Esztergom it is also possible to cycle one of the sections of EuroVelo 6 as part of a one-day cycling tour. In the Danube Bend, the best-built section of EuroVelo6 is located between Szob and Budapet on the left bank of the Danube. Flashmob for the International Eucharistic Congress
Flashmob for the International Eucharistic Congress A flashmob was made on September 2, 2021 in front of the Esztergom Basilica with the participation of local Catholic schools. For the occasion, all the students from four schools marched to the cathedral. Students and teachers of the József Mindszenty Catholic Primary School arrived in turquoise hats, the János Vitéz Catholic School in green, the Saint Elisabeth of Hungary School in dark blue and the Zoltán Meszlényi Catholic Primary School in yellow. Cardinal Péter Erdő came in person to greet the students gathered there. The students sang together the anthem of the 1938 International Eucharistic Congress, the melody of which was written by priest Géza Koudela and the lyrics were written by the Jesuit monk Béla Bangha. The last verse of the hymn also recalls King St. Stephen, the founder of the state, who was born in Esztergom. This song also remained the anthem of the 52nd IEC. Ákos Kovács was asked to work out the today’s version of the previous anthem. In the 2021 version, the old melody and lyrics were given a modern orchestration. The village of Kesztölc, situated at the South-Western part of the Pilis Hills, offers more than a dozen tourist attractions. The locality, almost 100 years old, has different types of tourist institutions. In Kesztölc a very important role is played by the Mine Museum, which reminds us of the previous era.
